Proform PFTL 51704.0 treadbelt skips
#1
I have a PROFORM PFTL 51704.0 belt skips, not used much, put a belt lub on 2 yrs ago, should I put more lub (what is a good lub for the treadbelt) and try again or should I replace the belt. Thanks Jack

Lubing the belt is good - always use the Icon performant lube.

If the treadbelt "skips", it is slipping in 1 of 3 places:
-the drivebelt from the motor to the front roller is loose, adjust the motor position to tighten.
-the treadbelt is loose, adjust the rear roller to tighten.
-the drive pulley is slipping on the front roller cylinder, replace the front roller or drill and pin the pulley to lock it onto the roller cylinder.

To diagnose, disconnect power and pull off the front cover so you can see the motor, drivebelt, and front roller. Be careful, start the treadmill up at a slow speed, use your foot to force the treadbelt to slip, and see where it slips at.
If the motor continues to turn but the front roller stops, it is the drivebelt, or the drive pulley on the cylinder.
If the motor and front roller continue to turn when the treadbelt stops, the treadbelt is too loose.
Good luck!
